As the 7th most populous city with the 2nd busiest container port, Long Beach is one of the most vibrant places in the United States. First incorporated in 1897, this city has come a long way. Known as the center of gangster rap in the ’80s, its list of attractions has only grown since then. From the RMS Queen Mary, the Aquarium of the Pacific, there are numerous things to do while you are here. The next time you go to Long Beach, here are some of the things you can do.
Enjoy the diverse food scene
Long beach is a melting pot of different cultures, and this is seen through its diverse food scene. From Mexican to Mediterranean and American cuisines, there’s something for everyone. Because of this wide variety, picking the best restaurant Long Beach is difficult as each one offers something different. However, being a port city, you have to try the seafood joints, local brews and of course, get some Greek food from George’s Greek Café.
Visit the local antique market
This is a great way to pass your weekend and find one-of-a-kind items. The antique market is held every 3rd Sunday of the month and is open from 6.30 am to 2 pm. There’s an admission fee, but kids under 12 get in free.
Visit the RMS Queen Mary
This is more than a ship, bigger than the Titanic; it has seen its fair share of sea adventures with notable figures such as Winston Churchill and Clark Gable having been onboard. While it’s no longer operational, you can still spend a few nights on the Queen Mary while learning its history at the museums and grab something to eat and shop at the many restaurants and stores on board.
Between the great food, water scenery, and festivals, Long Beach is easily one of the most fun cities in California. So on your next trip, why not come down to Long Beach.
